Keeping a close watch on your main line is an important part of being a homeowner. The average homeowner probably knows that sewer lines help transport wastewater from the home to underground sewer mains. Don’t wait until it is too late to investigate your main line.

The most common red flags are water backing up out of a sink drain or the toilet or a gurgling sound coming from the drains. Tree roots are the primary cause of a clogged sewer line, especially in an older home or during the summer. Summer storms bring in rain causing roots to spread like wildfire.

If you don’t take some action to remove the roots, a complete sewer line block will occur. Make sure to be cautious!

How can you truly tell whether or not your main sewer line is backed up? There are two signs that can help you define the problem. A foul stench coming from drains is an indicator, also, a slow draining bathtub or laundry lines can help predict an issue. Keep a close watch on your main line to avoid an expensive maintenance bill.
