We’re proud to announce that the Berkeley Animal Center and JDRF One Walk have been chosen as the recipients of January’s Give Back Grant. The Give Back Grant program, initiated in 2016, demonstrates “LimRic Pride” by donating a financial contribution to two 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations each month.
The Berkeley Animal Center’s mission is to serve the Berkeley County by giving animals the best possible care. Their doors are always open to stray animals and owner-surrenders and they’re committed to “maintaining a fiscally-responsibly, healthy, safe and loving environment for rescued, abandoned, abused or neglected animals.” Their core values are based on compassion, generosity and respect and their hopes are that all animals find a safe and loving home. In addition to dogs and cats, the Berkeley Animal Center also houses rabbits, birds, horses and other farm-type animals. To learn more about Berkeley Animal Center, please follow them on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/BerkeleyAnimalCenter/) or call 843-719-4210.
JDRF One Walkhas a goal to create a world without type 1 diabetes, changing “Type One into Type None.” As the autoimmune disease currently has no cure, money raised through the organization funds life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat the disease and its complications. Family-friendly “One Walk” events, the largest type 1 diabetes in the world, are held across the country to raise additional funds. The 1.2 mile Charleston walk will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Smythe Park Daniel Island.
